Professional Biography

Holly Wiemers is a public relations and integrated marketing communications professional with more than 25 years’ experience in various industries, including equine, higher education, technology, agency and government environments. She is currently the communications director for UK Ag Equine Programs, where she oversees the university’s equine marketing communications functions. She also teaches an agricultural marketing communications undergraduate course each spring.

Previously, she held roles in communications at the University of Colorado, Boulder; the International Arabian Horse Association; and a marketing agency in southern New Mexico. She also worked for the City of Roswell, New Mexico, during the 50th anniversary of a supposed UFO landing in the desert, and as a newspaper reporter for a daily newspaper in New Mexico.

Wiemers is an award winning, nationally accredited and longtime member of the Public Relations Society of America, past chapter president for the local PRSA chapter in Central Kentucky and a board member since 2014. She is also a member of the American Marketing Association, International Association of Business Communicators and has served as a volunteer communications liaison for the American Red Cross during national disasters, including in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

She earned a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from CU-Boulder as well as a bachelor of arts in communication studies, minoring in journalism, and a bachelor of science in biology, both from New Mexico State University.
